This is a beautiful watch that I would love to give 5 stars. The design is unique enough to set it apart from other divers. It may well become a signature piece for Sea-Gull. It is a modern iteration of a classic design and has a vintage feel with the domed sapphire glass and heritage colour schemes. The 3 being severed by the date window, gives it a real utilitarian look; no doubt a tribute to the original made for the Chinese antarctic expedition team. The stainless brushed and polished band completes a package that is, according to the dial, 'Zhong Guo Zhi Zao'. Quality control is however lacking for my item, which means it can only be 3 stars this time. The laser engraving on the clasp has an obvious defect (a round blob across one of the lines). The bezel is misaligned but in an unusual way. Normally misaligned bezels are due to the ratchet positioning, not here though. The top position mark perfectly aligns, but when it is, the 15, 30 and 45 markers do not centre with the 3, 6 and 9 indices on the dial. For example, at the 6 the dial index sits above the 3 in the 30 on the bezel, when the bezel itself is centred whereas it should be centred as per the Sea-Gull website photo. It seems to be a bezel desgin issue rather than one of alignment. Whatever it is, at US$669 bezel alignment should not be a factor, they should be perfect every time. It is though a seriously impressive watch for the price. It has a Sea-Gull movement, 200M water resistance, milled clasp and quite the eye-catching case back design. A piece worth buying, it is a great design and watch overall, but QC needs to improve.
